THE CURATORS

Morgan Shropshall has been involved in her local art community since she was a youth. Having graduated from Western University with a BFA Honours Specialization in Studio and Minor History.

During her post graduate studies Morgan was able to explore a variety of medium, but was drawn to painting. Morgan's work has looked at the concepts of perception and focuses on the persistence of memory. Her work dwells into her own childhood memories through a multilayered process.

Morgan currently works in London at Fanshawe Pioneer Village as Education Coordinator where she is able to share both her love of heritage and both cultural and visual history. Morgan has also worked in multiple galleries and has been able to use her studies in gallery practices. She has recently moved to the Sarnia area where she has begun to introduce herself to the local art and museum community.

Melissa Upfold is an active artist in the community of Sarnia-Lambton. Currently working in photography, Upfold has experimented in multiple mediums. She has had solo shows in mulitiple locations in Sarnia as well as at Gallery Lambton (Being Born is as Easy as Dying, 2009) and at The Lawrence House (Pathos: Woman Fragmented.)

She is the current host and organizer of Spoken Word Sarnia and the owner/lead photographer of The Calculated Colour Co.

She is the organizer of the LOCAL Curated Art Show.

Born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario, artist Laura Kreviazuk earned her Bachelor of Arts in
Studio Art from the University of Guelph, where she graduated with honours. Following
graduation, Laura relocated to Toronto where she co-founded the VSVSVS studio collective an artist run-center. It was in Toronto that Laura began developing her own visual style and
language. Now back in her hometown, Laura is dedicated full time to her studio practice,
finding inspiration in her industrial surroundings.

In her work, Laura is best known for her exhaustive use of contrast, scale, and gestures.
Her work often blurs the line between painting and drawing, and is consistently inspired by the
power of the intuitive process. You’ll notice she frequently uses a limited palette to create an
emotional atmosphere. Laura has built an impressive body of work that explores abstraction in terms of complex visual layering, each piece evolving through a process of constantly adding and erasing layers and marks.

As an engaged member in her local arts community, Laura is very active participating,
exhibiting, contributing, and volunteering both her work and her expertise in many local
fundraisers and workshops. She is very excited to have been commissioned to create a painting
on the window front of 100 Christina; working on a large scale, this site-specific piece will allow
her to create a complex, chaotic environment for people to engage in. Laura loves to inspire
others, and hopes to provide her community with more opportunities to connect with the

visul arts.
